DIY Patchouli/Tangerine Solid Perfume

Patchouli-Tangerine Solid Perfume

Solid perfume is a delightful and simple beauty recipe to create.  There are essentially only three ingredients in a solid perfume. You simply blend carrier oil, wax and essential oils together.  I suggest that for the carrier oil you select either Jojoba oil or grapeseed oil.  Beeswax is the best choice for the wax, though, you may use soy wax or emulsifying wax NF if you like.  I also propose that you use about a 30% essential oil ratio in the recipe.  You may craft a single note perfume if you like or try using two to three essential oils in your blend.  If you choose to formulate a single note blend, try to stick with the base and middle note essential oils.  You can look forward to your solid perfume lasting nearly two hours on your skin before you need to reapply.  Avoid storing your perfume in hot temperature as it will melt.  There are so many container choices for storing your solid perfume.  You can use recycled tin containers, glass jars or even perfume lockets purchased at your local craft store.  I hope you have as much fun as I do when you start crafting your very own solid perfumes.  Enjoy!!

You can get creative with your container choice.
I chose to make a half-ounce pot of solid perfume.  Here is my recipe for Patchouli-Tangerine Solid Perfume.

Patchouli-Tangerine Solid Perfume
5 grams Beeswax

Measure out the Jojoba Oil or grapeseed oil in a small shot glass.

Add in your essential oils and gently blend well.  This is your opportunity to test it out on your skin and determine if it needs more essential oils.

Measure out your beeswax.  Beeswax comes in both pastilles and various sized bricks.  You can substitute soy wax too.

Place the beeswax in a small glass and heat in a water bath until melted.  Once melted, keep the melted container of beeswax in the hot water but remove from the heat.

Pour your essential oil blend into the melted beeswax.  You will notice that the mixture will immediately start to solidify.  This is why you keep the container in the hot water and gently stir for a few seconds to remelt.

It should only take about 20 seconds to remelt the perfume.

Quickly and carefully, pour the melted perfume into your chosen container.  For best results you should fill to the very top.  Allow to sit undisturbed for about 30 minutes to harden.

Make a pretty label telling what it is, the ingredients and when to use by.  Place on the container and enjoy.

Here are a few of my other favorite essential oil blends for solid perfume.......
