Real Tips: Liquid Eye Liner
The classic black winged-out liner can be found in all of the magazines and on the red-carpet, but doing it yourself can be a little intimidating. Don’t worry—with the right tips, tricks and a little practice, you can be a pro in no time.
Here is our 3 step guide for working with liquid liner:
- First Draft. Use a light colored gel liner and sketch out desired shape before applying liquid liner. With your fine liner brush apply light even strokes along the root of your lashes and then overlap the line to thicken. Follow the curve from the lower lash line when extending liner up and out to create a cat-eye. Clean up any mistakes with makeup remover on a cotton swab if needed. Try, Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Sepia (2).
- Mark It. Trace over liner with a marker-style liner like MAC Penultimate Eye Liner (3). Start from the center of the eye working out to end, then use the lightest touch to line the inside corner of eye. Avoid smudging liner on the top of eye lid by keeping eyes looking down until pigment has dried.
- Final Edit. Look into mirror with chin up and eyes downcast to ensure that lines are symmetrical. Use a dab of concealer on your pixel-point eyeliner brush and run under liner to perfect skin and create a crisp line.
