Master Barber Tip #7 Wet Shaving can give you a close shave and exfoliation
Israel’s tips on the benefits of wet shaving
Wet shaving is the use of a razor and lubricating agent such as oil and/or shaving cream, while dry shaving is the use of an electric razor. When done properly, wet shaving can give you a close shave and a deep form of exfoliation. Because of the closeness and exfoliation, your shave has the potential of lasting longer compared to using an electric razor. The key in the shaving process is to have a good razor with a fresh blade. If you begin to feel any tugging of the hair, stop and change direction of the way you’re guiding the razor. If the tugging continues, then it may be time to replace your blade.

Master Barber Tip #6 Moisturizing after a shave has numerous benefits for the skin
Lamont’s tips for Keeping your skin hydrated
Every time you shave, you remove a thin layer of skin that contains moisture. We suggest using After-Shave products
to help restore moisture and to accelerate the healing process. Our Balms are perfect for year round use, but if you’re looking for something lighter during the humid summer months, I recommend using our After Shave Gels. One thing to note is that all of our After Shave products are
alcohol free, thus helping the fight against skin irritation, dry skin, and potentially those unwanted ingrown hairs.

Master Barber Tip #5 A good handle and proper technique are keys to the perfect shave™
Michael’s tips on how to select and use your razor
When choosing a razor, select one with a
good weight and balance to maximize stability and control. On your next shave,
try shorter strokes, this allows for less build up and a smoother pass.
Shave with the grain first, and for an even closer shave,
re-lather and shave lightly across or against the grain. You can also try a
power razor, as they glide smoothly over your face when shaving. After your shave,
try using a razor stand, it’s ideal for proper maintenance and storage of the razor between each use.

Master Barber Tip #4 The Perfect Shave™ should include the perfect lather
DAVID’S TIPS ON WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN YOUR SHAVING CREAM
Pay attention to the
ingredients in your shaving cream because they play a role in creating a great lather experience. The Art of Shaving’s Shaving Creams include key ingredients, like
glycerin, which helps provide a rich, quality lather. They contain NO alcohol, dyes, or synthetic fragrances. Each product also contains essential oils - to provide an invigorating aroma experience. To enhance your shaving cream experience, instead of using your hands,
try lathering up with a shaving brush. Shaving brushes help build a great lather and lift the beard hair.

Master Barber Tip #3 Prepare your skin before you shave
Steve's Tips on How to Prepare for the Perfect Shave
Properly
Preparing your skin and beard before a shave can lessen irritation and help prevent nicks & cuts. Shave in or after your shower as steam opens pores and brings moisture to the skin. Hydrate your beard: softer hair = less work for the blade of your razor.
Use a protective layer of shave oil - it
improves how the blade glides
across the skin and can help lessen irritation. Don't worry, the oil doesn't remain on the skin after your shave.

Master Barber Tip #2 A good lather enhances your shave
BORIS’ TIPS ON HOW TO CREATE A GOOD LATHER
A good lather enhances the shave as it helps you avoid issues like irritations and nicks and cuts. Boris’ favorite is the
Silvertip Shaving Brush. Boris recommends you
use hot water to open pores, as brushes retain water and bring heat to the skin.
Create fast circular motions with your shaving brush to build a rich lather and lift facial hair. Also,
use a Shaving Brush Stand to store your brush. It's ideal for drying, and maintains your brush between each use.
