7 Natural Ways To Cure Adrenal Fatigue
Adrenal Fatigue is something many experience after prolonged physical or emotional stress, or after illness. It often goes unaddressed as we keep working away at our lives, thus creating more complicated problems down the road.
If you or a loved one are struggling with fatigue, problems falling asleep, difficulty focusing, and memory trouble, accompanied by a sense of being overwhelmed, anxious and short-tempered, you may be suffering from the beginnings of adrenal fatigue.
All this may also be driving you to drink coffee and use other stimulants and sweets to keep going through out the day, ultimately providing the feeling of being a hamster on a wheel that never stops turning.
There is good news! With time, commitment, a balanced protein based diet, and herbal support you can recover.
Here are 7 pointers to help you start feeling better:
1. Eat the appropriate amount of protein for your body.
You can calculate how much you need using this protein calculator. Eat two thirds of this in the morning and the last third at lunch.
2. Go to bed at the same time every day.
Your body relies on routine so waking and going to bed at the same time daily will inevitably change your energy levels.
3. Eat lightly in the evening so your body can rest and rejuvenate while sleeping.
A wonderful combination for a peaceful nights sleep is a mix of Passiflora incarnate – Passionflower and Chamomile. This should also help with that groggy morning feeling. Drink a cup twenty minutes before going to bed.
4. Drink electrolytes in your water.
A wedge of lemon should do the trick.
5. Go easy on the stimulants.
Try to avoid sugar or caffeine as this exacerbates the fatigue in the long run.
6. Maybe a little dramatic but .... create a chamomile lawn!
Lying on such a lawn and breathing in its aroma is magnificently relaxing for the whole body. Alternatively, place four cups of Chamomile or Jasmine flowers in your bath, lie back and relax.
7. Learn to love raw oats.
Another herb that is also a common food is Avena sativa, or oat. Taken as an herbal tincture it is a wonderful tonic for the nerves. Use raw oats wrapped in a cheesecloth sack with the Chamomile/Jasmine in your bath for a wonderful skin soother.
These last few are western herbs that can help, there are also many Chinese herbs that are very beneficial and restorative.
